WWE Raw 12/10/12

With Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston and U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro scouting at the commentary booth and sniping at each other when the mood struck (still no love for Cesaro's satchel), Truth and Barrett went at each at a breakneck pace. The Englishman looked to end the contest quickly, trying to make an example of Truth in front of Kofi, who seemed unimpressed by Barrett's relentlessness. And while Barrett seemed to have Truth's number throughout the contest, Little Jimmy's big buddy eventually pulled off a shocker when he rolled up Barrett for the 1-2-3, leaving Kofi to pick the bones by planting Barrett with a crossbody for good measure.

Already set to face Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston for the championship gold at WWE TLC in nine days, Wade Barrett prepared to take on the unrelenting Randy Orton — with “The Wildcat” joining the SmackDown announce team.

WWE Main Event 12/05/12

Before the originally scheduled match got underway — and following Cesaro’s typical berating of the American WWE Universe — Wade Barrett and R-Truth made their way to ringside, joining Michael Cole and The Miz at the announce table. As the opening bell sounded and Kingston and Cesaro locked up, Cole announced that R-Truth had earned a U.S. Title opportunity against The Swiss Superman at WWE TLC.

The Champion vs. Champion Match ended in a no contest and R-Truth and Kingston — with Little Jimmy’s approval (seriously) — challenged Barrett and Cesaro to a tag team match. The challenge was accepted and an impromptu tag team match immediately got underway.

The experience as a successful tag team is what ultimately led to victory for Truth & Kingston on WWE Main Event. Battling Cesaro, R-Truth tagged himself into the match, executing a sunset flip from the top rope on The Swiss Superman. Struggling to put him down for the pinfall, Kingston nailed Trouble in Paradise, dropping the U.S. Champion and allowing Truth to secure the win over his WWE TLC opponent.

We're baffled. We're stupefied. We're stunned and almost literally at a loss for words. On a Raw where career trajectories were potentially altered and the WWE Championship was put up for grabs, something came to pass that we never thought we'd ever see on WWE programming:

WWE Raw 11/26/12

The Intercontinental Champion didn't fare so great against newly minted No. 1 contender Wade Barrett last week on Raw, but "The Wildcat" brought the fight to a bigger opponent in Lafayette when he took to the ring against Tensai. Kofi hoped to score a win against Tensai to demonstrate his proficiency against a larger opponent. And with the English brawler himself scouting at the announce booth, Kofi put on a textbook display of endurance when he withstood Tensai's punishing attacks en route to an impressive statement win over the gargantuan gaijin.

WWE Main Event 11/21/12: Wade Barrett vs Justin Gabriel

The history between Wade Barrett and Justin Gabriel is well-documented. Both Superstars competed on the inaugural season of WWE NXT – which Barrett won – and they were allies in both The Nexus and The Corre. Even with their history, there is no love lost between Barrett and the South African high-flyer and that was clearly evidenced by The Bareknuckle Brawler’s relentless offensive in the opening moments of the bout.

Wade Barrett has never been a man to mince words, so it wasn't exactly surprising he claimed the Intercontinental Championship should be his following the Englishman's elimination of Kofi Kingston in the Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match the night before. But the Englishman certainly left a few jaws on the floor in Nutter Center when he grounded The Dreadlocked Dynamo with minimal fanfare, bestowing Kofi with his second Bull Hammer elbow in as many nights to earn a huge statement win over the freewheeling champion.

It turns out team captain Dolph Ziggler didn't need his teammates' support to be a winner after all: Mr. Money in the Bank pinned Randy Orton to win the Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match as the sole survivor.

Ziggler says that’s fine he’s glad Miz quit because Miz couldn’t cut it and got someone way better Wade Barrett. Barrett says Team Ziggler replaced a quitter with a winner and Foley then makes Wade Barrett vs Kane.

Barrett unloads on Kane with kicks and punches. Barrett with a  sidewalk slam and Kane counters with a big boot to the face. Clothesline over the top rope to Barrett and Kane up to the  top rope hits the flying clothesline and Team Ziggler runs down and attacks Kane and out comes Bryan to help and Team Foley runs out and it’s a donnybrook as an all out a brawl breaks out and  Survivor Series has come eatly as we get a preview of Team Foley vs Team Ziggler.  Orton hits a couple of RKO’s and Miz walks out and looks at Team Foley standing in the ring.

This week, in honor of WWE's European tour, Englishman Wade Barrett selects perhaps the greatest bout in the history of the U.K. as the Intercontinental Championship takes center stage at SummerSlam 1992.

"[The Bulldog] was from just down the road from me, near Wigan," Barrett explained. "I'm from Preston, very close. He was my idol as a kid, so this was a great moment and great to have a pay-per-view like SummerSlam in the U.K. I hope we get that again one day."
